Red Pikmin Crochet Pattern

Only just got around to finally organising some of my patterns! Apologises to anyone who has commented and haven’t had a reply, a lot of life got in the way! XD

As of last month I have begun to sell the random things I am making, and I am also accepting commissions and have had quite a few orders so far! – Check out my Facebook page for photos of all the stuff I’ve made! – https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mr-Nova-Crochets/685198041554543

Right, I’m just starting off with a very simple pattern, one for a red Pikmin! This cute little creatures hail from the game Pikmin, and they gather in the dozens to help Captain Olimar fight off all kinds of creepy crawlies!

Here is the pattern:

I used a 2.5mm hook for this in order to make it small, but there’s no reason why you couldn’t do it 4mm if you so wished. :3

Leaf

In green yarn.

Round 1 – 6 sc in magic ring (6)
Round 2 – 2 sc in each sc around (12)
Round 3 – sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat (18)
Round 4-12 – sc in each sc around (18)
Round 13 – sc in next 4 sc, decrease, repeat (15)
Round 14 – sc in next 3 sc, decrease, repeat (12)
Round 15 – sc in each sc around (12)
Round 16 – sc in next 2 sc, decrease, repeat (9)
Round 17 – sc in each sc around (9)
Round 18 – sc in next sc, decrease, repeat (6)
Round 19-20 – sc in each sc around (6)
Round 21 – decrease, repeat (3)

Do not stuff and close the piece. Flatten it and sc around the edge to give it neater leaf shape. You can do this using the long tail at the end.

Pikmin Body

The stem, head, and body are all made as one piece, starting at the stem. Stuff as you go along.

In red yarn.

Chain 4, slip stitch in first chain.
Round 1-4 – sc in each stitch around (4)
Round 5 – 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc (5)
Round 6-8 – sc in each sc around (5)
Round 9 – 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 4 sc (6)
Round 10-12 – sc in each sc around (6)
Round 13 – sc in first sc, sc in next 5 sc (7)
Round 14-15 – sc in each sc around (7)
Round 16 – 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 6 sc (8)
Round 17 –  sc in each sc around (8)
Round 18 – 2 sc in each sc around (16)
Round 19 – sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat (24)
Round 20-26 – sc in each sc around (24)
Round 27 – sc in next 2 sc, decrease, repeat (18)
Round 28 – sc in each sc around (18)
Round 29 – sc in next sc, decrease, repeat (12)
Round 30 – sc in next 4 sc, decrease, repeat (10)
Round 31-32 – sc in each sc around (10)
Round 33 – sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat (12)
Round 34-36 – sc in each sc around (12)
Round 37 – sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat (14)
Round 38 – sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat (16)
Round 39 – sc in each sc around (16)
Round 40 – sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat (18)
Round 41-44 – sc in each sc around (18)

Lightly stuff and flatten the open end of the body. In the opening you will want to start making the legs at either side, making sure there is about 3 sc between each leg.

Legs

Following on from the body in red yarn.

Round 1 – sc in next 6 sc, slip stitch to first sc (6)
Round 2-4 – sc in each sc around (6)
Round 5 – sc in next sc, decrease, repeat (4)
Round 6 – sc in each sc around (4)

Very lightly stuff and close. When both legs have been made, you will have a small opening left between them on the body. Simply close this by attaching the two sides together with yarn, similar to how you would attach parts together.

Arms

In red yarn.

Round 1 – 4 sc in magic ring (4)
Round 2-10 – sc in each sc around (4)

Leave a long tail and attach to the sides of the body.

Nose

In red yarn.

Round 1 – 3 sc in magic ring (3)
Round 2-3 – sc in each sc around (3)

Eyes

Starting in black yarn.

Round 1 –  4 sc in magic ring (4)
Change to white yarn.
Round 2 – sc in each sc around (8)

Leave a long tail for assembly and attach to the head.

Finally, if you not have done already, attach the leaf to the top of the stem, and voila! You have your own Pikmin!

And if you don’t want to make it yourself, I’m selling this one for £5 on Etsy if it takes anyone’s interest – https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/203519358/pikmin-crochet-soft-toy?ref=pr_shop

Let me know if you have any queries or spot any mistakes! If anyone attempts this I would love to see their finished result! 😀

Peace out!
James!
